Primrose/Primulas Collection

Woodlanders | Primroses | Peonies | Daylilies | Hostas

Primroses are the first, cheerful blooms of spring at Cider Hill. We grow a number of primula species and hybrids, from plum to burgundy auriculas with yellow to white centers, to regal Japonicas with candelabra whorls on 24-inch stems.

There is something endearing about the simple shape of the primrose blossom—like something a child might draw, making it easy to fall in love with these precious spring flowers. Primroses are perfect for shady landscapes and in woodland gardens. Mix and match them with other shade-tolerant, moisture-loving plants, such as hostas, ferns, European ginger, hellebores, and woodland wild flowers.

Peruse our favorites, listed below, and visit our display gardens to select primroses for your own gardening pleasure. We are available to guide you in your selection and offer cultural information to help you grow beautiful primroses at home.

Please see our extensive plant list below. We have more plants than we can list and not all plants are available at all times. Plants are sold only on site. We do not ship plants.
